Abstract

This chapter examines the role and significance of foreign aid in the foreign policies of both aid donors and aid recipients. The chapter starts by discussing what is meant by ‘aid’, and it goes on to look at the varied motivations for the provision of foreign aid before exploring some of the dilemmas and issues that arise within aid diplomacy, for both aid donors and aid recipients.
